Born in Massachusetts, Nancy
Gaucher-Thomas was raised in New Jersey where
she attended the New York Phoenix School of Design
in Manhattan. Formal study in art and design,
she worked for several years as an art director
for a New Jersey advertising agency where she
then went on to form Gaucher-Thomas Associates
an advertising design studio. Nancy continued
private study in painting with Paul Wood, Arts
Students League; Billie Samuelson; Dorothy Watkeys
Barberis,MWS; and workshops with Pat SanSoucie,AWS;
Arne Lindmark,AWS; Thomas Sgouros,AWS; Irwin Greenberg,AWS
among others.
Nancy’s work has appeared
in numerous national exhibitions including the
National Watercolor Society Annuals, the National
Association of Women Artists Annual, the Academic
Artists Annuals, the American Artist Professional
League Annuals where she is an elected artist
member. Her work has garnered awards from such
annual exhibitions as the National Watercolor
Society, Midwest Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania
Watercolor Society, NorthEast Watercolor Society.
And the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.
Founder and president emerita
of the Art League of Rhode Island, Nancy Gaucher-Thomas
resides in East Greenwich, Rhode Island where
she teaches the fine art of watercolor painting
in addition to on-location workshops. A signature
member of the National Watercolor Society she
is a sought after instructor and juror, and has
served on juries of selection and awards for many
organizations including the Naval War College
Museum, Newport, RI and the Providence Art Club,
Providence, RI. Her paintings are included in
many public and private collections in the U.S.
and abroad.
